Many Vermont golfers wonder… should I take golf instruction or not? If you are a beginner, definitely take golf lessons. This will allow you to learn the proper fundamentals from the beginning, which might allow you to play golf for a lifetime. If you do not take lessons you may find the game very difficult from the start and quit. If you are more advanced, then the decision is up to you. Set some game improvement goals for yourself. If your goals are not reached, then embark on some certified golf instruction. Private Golf lessons or group golf lessons, it doesn’t matter. Take some proactive steps to your game improvement.

PGA Professionals understand the mechanics of the golf swing and they are also taught how to become good teachers. They have an understanding of how the human body works. The PGA Professional has some background in sport psychology and an understanding of how people learn. All in all, the PGA Professional is someone who is well equipped to teach all shapes, sizes, ages and sexes how to play the game of golf. However a word of warning, anyone can call themselves a golf professional, it is the PGA membership that is the sign of quality. Trust your PGA golf instructor to help you attain your game improvement goals.
The PGA Teaching Professional can also ascertain higher teaching credentials by becoming “certified” in instruction by the PGA. After passing a rigorous exam on golf instruction and playing the game, the PGA Professional can become a “certified” PGA Professional in instruction. Look for these credentials when choosing your golf instructor. Finally, the structure of golf in this country does not require people to take lessons. In other countries (for example Germany) you cannot play golf until you have passed a test. This is given by the golf professionals and requires a certain level of performance as well as a basic understanding of rules and etiquette. Consequently the players get in the habit of taking lessons from the outset and see the golf professional as the person who will help them improve.
